There's nothing like Easter in this house! The kids have their tradition of pulling out all the decorations and displaying in the family room. This year egg decorating went off w/o a hitch...no dye spills! It was successful!
We had the opportunity to watch the Passion Play on April 17th, which was a great way to meditate on the reason we celebrate Easter. Along with that, this was our first year to make Resurrection Cookies! The process of making them covers the Passion of Christ and we magically awoke to "tomb-like" cookies in our oven that was sealed the night before! It turned out to be a fun conversation topic on Easter Day with family, who had never heard of them.
Kids had a blast making carrot milk for Mr. EB! They left him crunchy carrots, artwork, and chocolate candies. He was gracious enough to leave them an awesome note reminding them about what Easter really means from a Christian perspective - he clearly indicated that it was NOT about him, rather he gets to be used to remind us of Easter and the real reason behind it!
We were greeted with an M&M trail from both kids' rooms into the family room! There awaited 2 baskets filled with simple goodies for the kiddos - both very appreciative of EB's generosity!
We attended sunrise service again and were blessed to park next to the H family! Couldn't have planned that one even if we tried...we literally pulled up next to one another - our families got to sit next to one another. Keep in mind, there were only 20,000 in the congregation that morning, all parking too!
(taken at service, as the sun broke through...amazing)Lunch at Auntie's proved to be fun for the kids! Weather that day included "breezes!" It was IDEAL for kite-flying! Oh, what a sight that was created by the 10 or so kites sifting through the air on Easter day. The egghunt was massive! We certainly brought home more than our share of eggs, both candy and REAL ones (yum...egg salad for Daddy!). Auntie surprised the kids with a pinata and a cake to celebrate my little boy's 10th birthday! We got lots in that day!
