The party kicked off with a BIG breakfast!
bacon, sausage, eggs, tator casserole, hasbrowns, biscuits/gravy, red/green chile, refried bean with melted cheddar cheese and tortillas! ....and maple nut scones made by Auntie and Starbuck BlissBars made by me and fresh biscochitos also made by me!
Happy Faces after full tummies!
Everyone has a specialized job...Auntie's job was eliminated from last year, but we found her a new position that included a new task of "cleaning work areas!"
Grandma/Auntie D always like putting the pork, only cuz if I did it we wouldn't have them that stuffed!
The Uncles/Daddy get the job of mixing and spreading...almost 300 husks! Me?
Well, let's just say I'm one good Project Leader! Helped to have a career under my belt!
Official Taste Testers!
Single and double thumbs up!
Baby girl even had time to horseback ride with Uncle,
during his break!
Recipe for Santa's Reindeers' glitter food:
- oats
- glitter
- marshmallows, optional
this helps Santa see your house from the sky as the glitter glows...and then the reindeer get to munch as they patiently wait for Santa!
Every year, I comment that this will be my last year coordinating this family project. And, I did it again this year...I was told to write it down cuz everyone seemed 100% certain that I would cave and coordinate again next year. Lots o' work, but the tradition is worth more than anything to me. It's a great time to laugh, bicker, complain, laugh again and leave with each 5 dozen tamales! Especially when you learn that the cost is $15 a dozen and we only paid $5 a dozen! Then, to witness my baby girl eat 2 for dinner and I hear that my older nephew ate almost a dozen by himself...it's worth it!
Cheers to Year #4!
