MT - The Treasure State

At the last of school last year, my boy selected MT as his state project for his 5th grade State Project and what a job it was for him. Every two weeks since the first day of school, he was presented with a research project that was not only researched but typed, colored, glued, you name it! All to be placed in a Montana State Binder that would eventually make a complete packet for his state. On May 7, he successfully completed it and boy he should be so proud. He did an excellent job. His pages were all typed and pictures inserted on specific reports. All papers were placed in sheet protectors and neatly organized with a Table of Contents.

The two final pieces were a report summarizing why he selected the state and what he learned. His report rocked! He shocked us at what he personally extracted and learned and liked and disliked about the project! Way to go! Then, the final piece has to be a hand made project relating to the state...tah dah...let me introduce you to The Battle of Little Bighorn National Monument:

(he used mega blocks, dominos, masking tape,
card board, construction paper, glue, and pompa grass)

Principal, teaching staff, students and family
members who went to the presentation had
a opportunity to visit each student and inquire
about each project.  This gave the students a chance
to showcase their work and get somewhat prepared
to get on that stage and present before many!

His neighbor Missouri (cool display!)

And Wyoming (super interesting!)

Daddy, Gram Mijo and I got to go!

He selected MT because of it reminded him of a movie, Hannah Montana.  He also picked because he loved the shape of the state, reminding him of a face!  Lewis and Clark and Evil Knievel were top famous sets of people he talked about.  The festivals were interesting to hear about too!  He did an excellent job explaining why he enjoyed learning about The Battle of Little Bighorn, why he picked it and what his project memorialized!  He also made sure to through in his "dislikes" of doing specific research!  I love this boy and am so proud of you my pumpkin!
