Christmas was great. At church the week before, we were reminded that, “…the Word became flesh…” (John 1:14). This had a profound impact on me, personally. It was the perfect reminder for the reason we celebrate Christmas as Christians. The teaching was entitled, “Christmas in a Nutshell,” and here are a few of my notes:
·The Word became flesh
·He, Jesus, is the Word!
·God moved into our neighborhood with skin on Him, Jesus.
·The Word “became” – simply, born – on Christmas He “became” flesh
·Jesus was always deity, fully God, fully man.
Our family celebrated Jesus. I would ask the kids simple questions like whose birthday is coming up? Where was Jesus born? Why do we celebrate Christmas? Why do we give presents? Who are the wise men? Who bore Jesus? Who is His Father? Who is his adoptive father? Why was Jesus born? And, they would answer each question. And, yet, I probably didn’t ask nearly enough. At times we got caught up in the worldly “hipe” of commercial Christmas. But we’re learning as parents and continue to grow in our faith and witness to our children. As believers of His Word, we need to celebrate Him every day.
Dad had to work Christmas Eve this year, but after the kids and I spent the first part of the day visiting both sets of grandparents, aunties, uncles, and "the boys" (cousins), we caught up with him at church!

The visits proved to be a blessing and the kids enjoyed each visit.
At church BraBra and his best friend CH sat next to one another and loudly worshiped and smiled in joy as they sang each Christmas carol.

Dad arrived halfway through service – smiles. Our Cinderella loved being able to sit with us during service! The message was amazing – all on fear and why we should have no fear with Jesus in our lives.
After having a special dinner with the “Husband” family, and after the 4 kids exchanged special gifts, we departed back to our home. In our jammies, cozy and warm, the 4 of us joyfully unwrapped presents and shared the night together as a family.

We awoke to a beautiful Christmas morning, celebrating as a family. Our day was topped off by a Christmas dinner with the ABQ cousins, where the 4 of us learned how to officially "Wii!"

My special gifts this year: that I was reminded that “the Word became flesh,” that my kids understand who Jesus is and why He entered this world with skin on Him, that I have a great husband and beautiful family, all because of Our Father. I am blessed, once again.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1)
