She had her heart set on playing the theme song from Pirates of the Carribean, but when she discovered that another student had already picked that piece, she quickly jumped at the opportunity to play the theme from Star Wars!
Her brother loves Star Wars and I have to wonder if that's not what nudged her in making that selection!
We were a bit worried because if you know our baby girl she doesn't like attention, nor does she prefer to be the center of attention. Right before the recital, we were sitting and waiting, she casually mentions to auntie that Mrs. C would be playing with her (sometimes Mrs. C accompanies the student, a duet). I look at her and say, "baby girl, she is not playing with you, remember, you memorized your piece and have been playing solo." We got, "the look," the look that means "oh oh, I think she doesn't want any attention." oh no...
But, not to worry, she was 2nd on the program

How cool to be able to play the theme song of Star Wars! And the Pirates of the Caribbean! What talent! What a wonderful job at your first recital! And you and your brother looked so beautiful and handsome! So proud of you!
