Martinelli sparkling apple cider and root beer floats were just a couple of the treats requested to make our New Year's Eve party complete!
It truly was a fun day to celebrate! Kids decided that they wanted to get dressed up and wore clothes they got for Christmas.
We typically celebrate with a lunch at Macaroni Grill...except this year they wanted egg drop soup and yummy Chinese food! So, we found a popular buffet and everyone really enjoyed unique items! Daddy and I found the Tappan grill most appealing and the kids really enjoyed unlimited bowls of egg drop soup, shrimp and rice noodles! They had Creamland mint hard-scooped ice cream that was a delight! And the kids seemed to really like the rubbery jello!
We took an unplanned stroll through the neighboring mall and had the best time! The crowd was light so we were able to walk in/out of almost every store! We picked up a few items, but for the most part just enjoyed window-shopping! Before we knew it, it was close to dusk and time to go home! Shucks, we missed out on our afternoon plans to watch Redbox movies we got! Oh well...
We did get home in just enough time to get the party started! We sliced the summer sausage and had 3 kinds of cheese! One was pepper-jack (that was a hit w/our baby girl), American cheese you can squeeze through a can (a hit w/our boy) and colby-jack! As kids my mom always bought us the squeeze one and it was fun for our kids to experience! Of course, Ritz crackers always make the sausage and cheese taste extra yummy!
Our next party food was our new CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN that Auntie Judy gave us for X-mas! We had both large and mini marshmallows, strawberries, and bananas. Hmm...good...but NOT fun to clean up. That's when I wished Auntie Judy was close by to help w/the chocolate clean up! But, it was a true hit and plenty of fun.
Martinelli cider was simply "dah licious" as my boy would say.
The A&W root beer floats filled tummies and I'm pretty sure that's what led to heavy eyes around 10:00pm! Boy was it hard to stay awake and wait for Selena Gomez to perform at 10:00pm MST (midnight EST)! But they did it!
The night was fun...we pulled out all our old New Years Eve decorations, hats and blow horns. The agenda included snacks/cider, dancing, Wii and Dick Clark's special!
We ate plenty and did our share of dancing! Daddy and kids did some dance moves that were pretty clever and slick! Watch out John Travolta, Michael Jackson and Madonna...we have some new dancers in town. Enjoy the YouTube VIDEO by clicking Part I and Part II, cuz "Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night!
Daddy and his darling were the top scorers in Wii bowling! We had to take pictures of the scores to prove it!
On our way home from dinner I asked everyone to list their top memory or favorite event from 2011 and here's a sample of what I heard:
loosing teeth, Sea World, camping with the cousins, Durango trip, 25th wedding anniversary, camping with the Cordovas, placing in the Spelling Bee, "mod ee's" hot tub, the balloon fiesta, playing at Kaiden's house, flying in an airplane to California
...there were many special memories of 2011! Each year is always the best when you have a great family and dear friends that help make the memories unique and lasting! Cheers to my continued "Blessings!" Happy New Year to all.
