Truly, we were able to get packed and ready for a camping trip within 3 hours! Our destiny was Jemez Springs! We ended up staying 3 nights at Jemez Falls campground and what an unexpected treat our stay was! The environment proved to be peaceful and calm and allowed for some great walking throughout the day. The weather was outstanding and perfect. It was a special trip. We were ready to just "get-a-way" and veg out! We had some great meals, played some fun games, had a blast with our imagination, got to fish, got to explore and even attempted to ride our bikes up the loops at the campground~
Here are highlights with my beautiful family!
The first night we had "Flashlight Wars" and I'm pretty sure MAMA WON (daddy didn't play, he was just full of hugs for each of us)!
Elmo showed up for breakfast!
Cheers to Morning #1 and Cookie Crisp cereal!
Participating in Family School can be lots of work, but here's the amazing advantage...you get to complete Thurs/Friday work not only at "home," but in the "Mountains" too! I'm convinced the fresh air did us ALL good! Very productive for the kids and they did a superb job wrapping up ALL their work! Plus, it was AWESOME having Daddy help and participate with the studies.
After 26+ years of camping in the Jemez, we finally located "The Tunnels!" The kids thought this was the best, and so did I!
After a failed attempt to get Oven Bread in Jemez Pueblo, we headed back to Jemez Springs were we had a chance to walk the little town, visit a gift shop and play on the public playground.
We've passed by this particular Overlook for years and finally stopped, hiked, sat, and took in the view!
Our 2nd night ended with a tasty hamburger/hotdog dinner and rootbeer floats for dessert (before bedtime!).
Daddy made some yummy pancakes for breakfast #2 - his coffee was pretty darn good too!
Temperatures greeted us with 57 deg. and it was pretty chilly, so we decided to go for stroll to warm up, through a neighboring campground that was pretty desolate and look for "treasures!" We found some fun treasures too...I found a pretty cool hatchet and bungee cord, plus lots of other fun stuff.
After our treasure hunt and after the sun decided to pop out, we geared up for stream fishing. Bites only, no fish to take back to camp!
I did NO fishing, I JUST captured images of my favorite faces!
A Royal Castle...kids found this spot that was transformed into an imaginary castle...so, the King and I invited them to a Royal dinner where we served them Royal Rootbeer in FANCY glasses and Royal tacos-n-homemade spanish rice!
These happen to be BIG Royal mouths devouring their dinner!
Our night comes to a close with s'mores (baby girl created her own version) and a campfire!
What a fun weekend. At one point on one of the 4 days we were there both kids, out of the blue, just said, "Thanks, Dad." They truly appreciated and enjoyed every moment; that makes it all worth it! Even if we did have one little girl who thought 3 nights just "wasn't enough!"

No, three nights is NOT enough! Dan took me to those tunnels when we dated. Sweet memories. We loved living in NM. You are so blessed. Your kiddo's are the luckiest kiddos! Love and miss you! PS. those tacos made me HUNGRY!!! :)
