4th reunion and 7 years in duration, our group made the trek to New Mexico! The first time we didn't have the long commute to Denver and Colorado Spring area. That alone was a huge blessing for our family.
We couldn't get there soon enough...baby girl started a countdown days before! Luckily it was only 30 minutes before our next family arrived and the greeting was surreal. After 4 reunions it's always amazing to see the genuine and unconditional love that is exchanged, not only between the girls, but among the siblings and parents. We are the luckiest family in the world!
My baby patiently waits in the hotel lobby...this was their initial greeting:
Girls hug and giggle and the parents decide New Mexican
food is a must for the first night's dinner:
Wait? It was yesterday these two "besties"
were only age 5 and 9. Arghh, now we have an
11 year old boy and a 16 year old teenager.
These two are just plain nuts...they really don't
appear to enjoy the camera. Really, they loved
their New Mexico style pizza, just an excuse to
make a goofy face:
Dinner at Maria's in Santa Fe on Cordova Road was an absolute treat. It was a time to reminisce and laugh! M got his share and taste of New Mexico food and really appeared to enjoy it, as did all of us! I love the intimacy of the dinner and just loved our conversation. Like the girls, we all just pick up where we left off...it's amazing.
As we are showing off beautiful Santa Fe and cruising the area, we heard a text beep...yep, girlfriend #3 has arrived and is checking into the hotel...what's a group of family suppose to do? Get there as fast as we can, of course!
Hugs and greetings in room 120 (just a tiny bit shy for 5 seconds):
Within seconds they are in swimsuits, in hallway and ready to swim!
Swimming all night until manager
came in and kicked us out at 10:30pm!
Yikes
Siblings are great sports.
After swimming we took over the hotel lobby until midnight!
More time to catch up while kids played a charming game of
Fibber, ate fruit loops and drank apple juice from the continental
breakfast area, and siblings were plugged into their DS's, tablets,
and iPhones!
Tired brother...bandana thing was "in"
during our get-a-way, compliments
of my baby girl, it's her "thing" to buy!
Pajama time and wet hair can make any
little girl giggle ALL NIGHT!
First night ended great. I think it was close to 12:30am by the time we all got in our rooms and said our "good nights." I loved seeing the joy on every face. I loved seeing how each had grown. I loved hearing the conversations. I love our group #42. I was just sad we had 2 families missing this reunion...but there will be next year!
....An end to Day #1
