The Day it Snowed Tortillas
In honor of New Mexico's 100th birthday the 1st graders had a story telling presentation. Their teacher hand-picked each student's story to learn by a New Mexican author. Some kids were partnered and this partnership of the "tortilla BFFs" was just the right pairing. They chose to dress up as the wife in the story, one holding a rolling pin and the other a tortilla, of course! They did an amazing job, considering this was their first time standing in front of a large group WITH A MICROPHONE! Way to go girls!
They retold (as storytellers) "The Day is Snowed Tortillas," written by Master Storyteller, Joe Hayes (click her to check out the story!)
The audience was treated to cake, baked by one of the school parents, in the shape of our state and filled with yummy cherries!
We girls (the mama, the auntie, the grandma) had a chance to pose with a very special and quite cute little storyteller!
