One Day at GC Turns Into Three Days!
Our initial thought was that one day would be plenty. It wasn't. Luckily the 4 of us were all on the same page...we needed more! Thank God the pass you initially purchase is good for a full 7 days...we were hooked and ended up going back two more days. On the last night, we were tempted to make it "just one more night!"
Not only are the views spectacular, the museums and amount of information available is truly incredible. We toured, we shuttled, we watched movies, we hiked, we had picnics, we took tons of photos and video!
Another cool part of the Grand Canyon is the selection of nationalities. It's one huge melting pot of people. There were times we would be hiking or riding a shuttle and it seemed like we were the only ones speaking English. It was fun for the kids to see and for our family to experience.
The kids participated in the Jr. Ranger Program. They took it very seriously and had to partake in classes offered by the park. We opted for the Elk-ology course. After the official swearing in and presentation of the first badge, my little Jr. Ranger BOY decided to try for another for the Paleontology Program, which involved overnight homework, but he didn't seem to mind...we worked his tail off and again had an official swearing in the next day, after even having to interview a park ranger!
