Shuttle Rides-n-Hiking Paths

Shuttle rides were always fun. Here we are waiting to catch one from Maricopa Point to Powell Point (one of favorite points)!

Sittin' next to this guy TWO TIMES was the highlight of our baby girl...she asked if she could take a picture of his shirt!

Then, of course, you had the usual photo opportunities while resting in the shuttle!

Our first hike "down" an actual trail (headed to base of canyon) was Bright Angel. Ranger Bob assured us it was only a 5 min. hike to a cool tunnel where you could find hieroglyphics and we did! This was a thrill for all of us, to actually be hiking downward! We saw plenty of donkey poop and did our best to keep an eye on our "skipping" baby girl! Take note of the "pose!" This became hers (and eventually our) signature Grand Canyon pose! I tried to capture photos the tunnel we went through as well as the few curves/turns we encountered while hiking down!

Take note of the warning - she took this very seriously (look at her face!) - kept her from skipping this time!

hieroglyphics we spotted on Bright Angel hike:

Our last day was really sad for each of us. We did our last shuttle/hike to the Kaibab/Rim Route. Yaki Point gave us a unique and different view from Herman's Rest Route the day before (opposite ends). There were only 3 viewpoints and the last was special. Once again, we had the chance to do a very "small" hike down. One couple had the opportunity to witness my baby girl posing w/her signature GC pose and was the talk of their hike! The photos give you the feel of the twists/turns the hike takes...going down is always easy, it's coming up that slows you down!

Then, there are hikes along the "RIM" of the canyon that are very nicely groomed and involves no downhill desent - this was a 0.7 mile hike we did along Hermit's Rest to Maricopa Point-this was Daddy's favorite part of the trip, it was just us!
