Remember November Sweet Smiles?

Have a Sweet Christmas! As you recall in November we started our Family School Community Project! We met several times over the last couple of months and bulletin board project was displayed for the residents of the nursing home on the first day of December. From what we understand, they've really enjoyed it. During our get-to-gethers, the kids made 11 hand-knotted lap blankets and learned a dozen Christmas carols. They each made a caroling booklet that was taken and used today! Today was the day! Our kids accomplished a huge milestone in our eyes. They touched the lives of many today... Many of the residents were in awe at their little bodies and some even requested certain songs that had touched their hearts in Christmas' past. We had some that even joined along in song...there may have a few bah humbugs, but I know our kids still touched their hearts in a way that can't be explained. It was humbling, yet amazing! Personally, my 2 kids asked to go back. They enjoyed seeing the residents happy. They loved seeing their individual rooms. They knew they had made them happy. One resident even asked my daughter to come back and see her, as she softly caressed my baby's hand. ...the softness of a baby's hand...and we take that for granted sometimes! This project was blessed and took many of us by surprise - we are fortunate that we can make projects like this work! We celebrated with a Christmas Party! Pizza... and Cupcake Decorating...
